Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rooftop rainwater filter and why would I need it?

It is a filter designed specifically for rooftop rainwater filtration. It consists of a filter element, which is capable of physical filtration up to 250 microns and in-built first-flush/bypass arrangement.

Rainwater filter is crucial if you intend to recharge rainwater in ground or reuse it for domestic purposes.

What are pros of rooftop filters over underground filters?

Easier to retrofit, minimum damage to existing structure, low maintenance, small footprint, first flush and bypass arrangement is easy to operate and handy. No water logging so no change of mosquito breeding.

Conventional filters are not rainwater specific and hence may not effectively filter rainwater for reuse or recharging purposes.

What are maintenance requirements and frequency of it?

Physical impurities that get accumulated on the filter cartridge need to be periodically removed and cleaned. It is a simple 15 min activity and is required to be performed 5 times in a year - once every month during monsoons (June, July, Aug, Sept) and once just before monsoons in May. Cartridge replacement is recommended every 4 years.

How many filters should I buy?

For domestic application one filter is recommended for every 1000 sq ft of rooftop area. For industrial applications Ira team needs to do the sizing exercise.

Do I need a plumber for installation?

Yes. For rooftop filters there is wall mounting brackets and inlet/outlet bypass connection, which a skilled plumber can do quickly and appropriately.

Is there a warranty on the product?

Yes.There is 1 year warranty by the manufacturer.
